The Student's Care for Kids program was designed to help students understand philanthropy and how they can make a difference in their community. Students are giving the opportunity to raise money for the hospital through: Read-A-Thons, Change Wars, Bake Sales, Pencil Sales, Dance-A-Thons, Bowl-A-Thons, Movie Nights, Car Washes, Spaghettie Dinners, Walk-A-Thons, and Kickball Tournaments.

With the direction of Ariel, Berlin Middle School has been actively enrolled in the Students Care for Kids program since 2009.

Ariel has a personal connection to this program as her daughter, Kristin, was treated at the Melodies Center of Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorders when she was 8 years old for a brain tumor.

Ariel creatively engages her students in philanthropy through holiday "icon" sales (Students Care for Kids icons that are sold to friends and family for $1 each), a ziti dinner event and a Walk-a-Thon. Her students fundraise year round!

The Students Care for Kids program was developed to offer our community’s youngest members the opportunity to help other children who are sick or injured. While supporting the work of the medical staff, Students Care for Kids also brings hope and a smile to the pediatric patients at the Children’s Hospital. Through the program, students are introduced to philanthropy and the many rewards that come from helping others, helping students who participate to gain a better understanding of what it means to give back to their community.
