Meet Dr. Michael Horgan.

As a neonatologist and leader of the region's only level IV neonatal intensive care unit, Dr. Horgan oversees the most fragile patients at Albany Med, usually infants often born weeks prematurely that weigh as low as a point and a half to 2 pounds.

One of the "comforts" of the NICU are the Giraffe beds - long-necked beds that house all of the technology necessary to monitor NICU babies. These special beds can also be used for surgical procedures without EVER having to move the baby, making the procedures safer for the infant. The price tag for just ONE of these beds: $50,000.
