Meet Jon Paul (JP).

Jon Paul was born at Albany Med on March 13, 2012 - at 25 weeks, weighing just over a pound. His mother Michelle was transferred to Albany Med from Bellevue three days before his birth due to pre-term labor. JP's lungs were not developed. He had bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD), a lung condition in newborns. His skin was extremely thin. His mother couldn't even hold him or touch him.

JP lived in an incubator/warmer called a Giraffe bed where every kind of care imaginable can happen, making it safer for the baby since they don't have to be moved. Gradually JP got better and recently celebrated his second birthday!

When the Woodley's told one of the nurses that they were going to call their son JP, the nurse said, "that's just perfect." That comment, just perfect (JP), really stood out to Michelle.

The Children's Hospital at Albany Medical Center treats all children regardless of their ability to pay.
