Meet Sammie Sagnelli.

At 9 years old, Sammie was diagnosed with Birkett's lymphoma. Today, Sammie is 14.

At the time of her diagnosis the tumor in her sinus was doubling in size every 48 hours. By June of 2008, after grueling rounds of chemo, Sammie's CAT scans were clear and have stayed that way ever since! Sammie and her family's slogan was - "In it to win it!" which indicated their drive to beat cancer in whatever way it took. Much of their fundraising was done through Sammie's favorite sport: softball.

Sammie started her annual "Strike Out Cancer" Softball tournament, emceeing and hosting sever of the Foundations events as she makes regular appearances at events like the Radiothon. She has been the featured speaker at Dancing in the Woods and has also spoken to companies like WalMart who raise funds in support of the hospital.

The Center for Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorders facility allows children with cancer or a blood disorder to receive their treatment in a setting that enables them to lay or relax while receiving their therapy and to interact with other children and families going trough similar treatments.
