Authorities say they're investigating the death of a man who apparently fell while climbing cliffs at a state park outside Albany.

Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple says the 42-year-old Rensselaer man's body was found Friday morning near one of the waterfalls in Thacher State Pak.

Apple says the man was wearing a climbing harness. Rock climbing isn't one of the approved activities at the park, located along the Helderberg Escarpment.

Police say it's not known yet when the man apparently fell to his death. His name hasn't been released.
