In an unexpected move, embattled Halfmoon Town Supervisor Mindy Wormuth is resigning.

Her fellow Republicans on the town board had called for Wormuth to step down prior to her October arrest on campaign finance theft charges. Wormuth has been on medical leave since then meaning the board had to do the 2014 budget without her. Town Councilman Craig Hayner says it wasn't easy.

Hayner says the board recently approved the spending plan with no town tax. Wormuth did not seek re-election. Kevin Tollisen will replace her in January.
