Answering tickets for petty larceny, a Canajoharie man is now facing more charges for escape, according to the New York State Police.
Michael A. Shostek, 29, is charged with Escape (3rd Degree, a misdemeanor) after he fled the Town of Palatine Court against the orders of the Judge. Shostek had been ticketed Dec. 2 by Troopers out of the Fonda barracks for petty larceny and criminal possession of a controlled substance.
While in court, Shostek was told he would be turned over to the custody of Montgomery County Corrections but instead Shostek left, according to authorities. Shostek now also faces Criminal Contempt, Criminal Impersonation and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, all misdemeanors.
Shostek was arraigned in the Town of Palatine Court and sent to the Montgomery County Jail without bail. He is due back in court on December 19.
