A Saratoga Springs man is facing seven counts including five felonies in connection with a shooting, police said.
Maurice Davis, 41, of Vanderbilt Terrace, is charged with burglary, five drug counts including carrying ecstasy and heroin, and a charge of coercion to cause physical injury (misdemeanor), police said. He was sent to the county jail after arraignment.
On Monday, January 13, police were called around 12:45 p.m. for a report of a suspicious person in the area of 14 Phila Street. Officers found Maurice Davis and a male victim nearby. The victim told police that he had been alone in his apartment on Circular Street and that Davis “barged” in and began to threaten the victim because the victim apparently owed Davis money, police said in a statement. Davis wanted the debt paid or “he would hurt both the victim and others,” according to police.
So the victim went down Phila Street to get the money with Davis following when police showed up.
