It was Mongtomery County's turn to take the brunt of thunderstorms and heavy rains Thursday night.
That heavy rain led to flooding which has led to a state of emergency being declared in the county. Officials are advising against any uncessesary travel on the Thruway between Exits 28 and 29. That stretch has been reopened after being closed for a time late last night due to flooding.
The Sheriff's office reports several local road closures, and a mud slide on Route 5S between Sprakers and Canajoharie. Route 5 is shut down because of a rock slide between Resevior Road and the Palatine Village line. Part of Route 10 between Route 5 and Groff Road washed away.
A boil water advisory is also in effect for the Village of Canajoharie.
A flood warning remains in effect for Canajoharie Creek.
