Montgomery County Sheriff's Deputies arrested Edgar Morey, 73, of Fonda, and charged him with second-degree attempted murder after they say he tried to kill a Palatine Nursing Home patient by smothering them with a pillow.

Authorities tell The Daily Gazette that the victim was treated for injuries and remains in stable condition. Police aren't saying whether Morey is related to the person or divulging a possible motive for the incident.

Morey was arrested on Saturday, August 9, after getting a complaint that Morey was seen visiting a patient whom he knew and observed trying to suffocate the resident with a pillow.

Morey was arraigned at the Town of Palatine Court by Judge Dygert and sent to the Montgomery County jail with bail set at $50,000 Cash or $100,000 Bond.
