The "dawg days" of "American Idol" may not quite be over for Randy Jackson.
Deadline.com reports the longtime "Idol" judge who announced his exit from the show after 12 years last season, may be returning to the show in a mentor role. The reports suggest Jackson may replace Interscope Records boss Jimmy Iovine, who has held the mentor role since "Idol's" tenth season. Fox has yet to comment on the report.
The network did recently confirm Keith Urban's return to the judge's panel for the upcoming 13th season of the singing competition. The country singer is the only judge to return from Season 12, which also included Jackson, Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj on the panel.
Reports also suggest that Jennifer Lopez, who sat on the "Idol" panel in seasons ten and eleven, will be back on board for the new season, though Fox has yet to make an official announcement.
