An investigation is currently underway following the discovery of a body near the Patroon Island Bridge in Rensselaer. The body was found on Tuesday (December 3) by New York State Department of Transportation employees near Interstate 90, just east of the bridge. The identity of the deceased has not been released yet, and the cause of death remains unknown.
According to the New York State Police, the call came in at about 8:24 a.m. The right lane of I-90 was closed for approximately 1.5 hours for investigation purposes but has since been reopened. As of now, there is no perceived public threat related to this incident.
The Patroon Island Bridge is a significant crossing that carries Interstate 90 east-west between Albany and Rensselaer Counties. The investigation into this incident is ongoing, and anyone with information is urged to come forward.
State Police have not yet indicated whether the death is considered suspicious. Further details will be released as the investigation progresses.
