It's All Over

When you can’t score you can’t win.

Syracuse shoots 39 percent from the floor and a dismal 0 for 10 from 3-pt range and the Orange bow out of the NCAA Tournament before the second weekend, losing to Dayton by the final of 55-53.

After the lowest scoring, ugliest first half of the NCAA Tournament, SU trails by two, and even with a little more offense in the second half the team’s offensive ineptness ultimately proves to be its downfall. Syracuse scores a season-low 18 points in the first twenty minutes and after a tightly fought battle it’s ultimately the Dayton Flyers who are the ones to pull out a hard fought win and advance to the Sweet 16.

Tyler Ennis, C.J. Fair, and Trevor Cooney combine to shoot 12-41 from the floor, and Dayton pulls out the win thanks in large part to a 7-16 mark from beyond the arc.

After a 25-0 start, Syracuse loses 6 of its last 9 games and finishes a once promising season with a 28-6 record.

Dayton improves to 25-10 overall and they play the winner of tomorrow’s Kansas-Stanford game in Memphis next week. The Flyers advances to the Sweet 16 for the first time in 30 years.
