Last season Syracuse faced the likely #1 pick in the NBA Draft, Jabari Parker, twice. The presence of incoming recruit Jahlil Okafor means Syracuse will face another superstar Duke freshman (and possible top pick in the draft) twice this upcoming season.
But with today's announcement by Myles Turner that he'll attend Texas in the fall, the Orange will also cross paths with another stud freshman who could be a one and done phenom and rise to the top of the 2015 Draft class.
Syracuse and Texas are two of the four host schools for the 2014 2K Sports Classic benefitting Wounded Warrior Project. Cal and Iowa are the other two hosts, but the Championship Round match-ups at Madison Square Garden have yet to be determined. At the very least the Cuse will get an up close look at Turner and the rest of a loaded Texas roster on the MSG floor, and there's a pretty good chance they'll actually play the Longhorns in one of the games at MSG.
Prior to adding Turner, Texas had the same national championship odds as Syracuse. Now they have to be considered the favorites to win the 2K Classic, which served as a nice springboard for last year's winners: the UCONN Huskies.
