Love beer?  You’ll be glad to hear the State of New York is trying to grow the beer brewing industry by offering Farm Brewery licenses that reward businesses for using locally grown produce in beer making.

Brown’s Brewing Company in Troy, NY has one of 14 Farm Brewery licenses.

Brown’s is way ahead of the trend to try to use New York hops, barley…even pumpkins.    Harvest time means it’s time to make Pumpkin Ale at Brown’s.

Ironically, I’m not much of a beer drinker.  The assignment is more up my alley because I have a great appreciation for farming.  I’ll be interested to hear from farmers if they decide to put in some hops or barley.

I already know enough beer drinkers who will give me their opinion of the idea. Although Pumpkin Ale might be worth my investing some time to research.
