Updated Parking Restrictions along Madison Ave.

Beginning Monday, April 23, the City of Albany’s contractor will begin to replace curbs and sidewalks on the north side of Madison Avenue between New Scotland Avenue and Robin Street. Work also includes continuing to install curb and drainage structures at the Willett Street/Henry Johnson Boulevard intersection, as well as finalizing installation and activating new traffic signals at the Madison Avenue intersections of Ontario Street, Quail Street, and South Lake Avenue.

The following Emergency No Parking schedule will be implemented:

Continuation of Scheduled Emergency No Parking Restrictions:

  • From 6:30AM to 5:00PM each weekday (Monday through Friday) between Friday, April 13, 2018 and Friday, April 27, 2018 on:
    • Madison Avenue’s north (Washington Park) side from Willett Street to New Scotland Avenue
    • Willett Street’s west (Washington Park) side from Madison Avenue/Henry Johnson Boulevard, north five (5) spaces
    • Henry Johnson Boulevard’s east side from Madison Avenue/Willett Street, north five (5) spaces
  • Please note: during excavation, these parking restrictions may be implemented indefinitely until excavation and back-filling is complete to ensure the safety of pedestrians and vehicle occupants

New Scheduled Emergency No Parking Restrictions:

  • From 6:30AM to 5:00PM every day (including weekends) from Monday, April 23, 2018 through Friday, May 7, 2018
    • Madison Avenue’s north (Washington Park) side from New Scotland Avenue to Robin Street
  • Please note: during excavation, the parking restrictions on Madison Avenue’s north side from New Scotland Avenue to Robin Street will be implemented indefinitely until excavation and back-filling is complete to ensure the safety of pedestrians and vehicle occupants

Vehicles parked in violation of these parking restrictions will be subject to parking tickets and will be towed. Alternative parking has been made available on Hudson Avenue inside Washington Park, and timed parking restrictions inside Washington Park have been lifted to help accommodate those seeking parking around the construction areas.

A single lane closure will in place during the work day within the Madison Avenue Work Zone. Traffic Control and flagpersons will be in place during this work to assist traffic through the work zone.

Additional updates regarding milling, paving, and pavement markings will be available in the near future.
