7-year-old Brendan Mulvaney's Ballston Spa lemonade stand reopened on Saturday, with proceeds to benefit a family friend who has an upcoming surgery at Shriner's Hospital for Kids.
In July, a New York Department of Health employee shut down the boy's lemonade stand.
Mulvaney was selling lemonade across from the entrance to the county fair in Ballston Spa. His family says a woman wearing a Department of Health shirt told the boy he couldn't keep the stand open without a permit.
DOH Spokesman Gary Holmes confirmed Monday that one of its inspectors closed the stand down after four fair vendors complained. Holmes did not release the names of the vendors or the employees.
Senator Jim Tedisco and Congresswoman Elise Stefanik stopped by on Saturday to show their support for Brendan and The Lemon-Aide Law, which would would exempt children under adult supervision for needed a permit.

This weekend, the goal is to raise money for a Ballston Spa family in need; Madison Moore, who has Blount's Disease. According to columbiadoctors.org, "Blount's disease is a rare growth disorder that affects children, causing the legs to bow outwards just below the knees. It is also know as tibia vara."
