Incumbent Governor Andrew Cuomo and his Democratic challenger, Cynthia Nixon, met Wednesday night in the primary campaign's one and only gubernatorial debate
This was Cuomo's first head-to-head debate since he ran for Attorney General against Republican Jeanine Pirro in 2006.
Corruption and ethics are two of the issues that Andrew Cuomo and Sex and the City actress Cynthia Nixon sparred over in their first and only governor's debate ahead of the Democratic primary on September 13.
Tempers flared as the two debated a number of issues at the event hosted by CBS. During the debate at Hofstra University, Cuomo announced he will not run for president in 2020 and vowed to stay in office as governor for four years if re-elected. Recent polls give Cuomo a 30-point lead over Nixon.
Thanks to WCBS-TV, CBS2 in New York for granting WGY the right to broadcast the debate in Albany.
