17 illegal immigrants, some of whom reportedly had lived in New York state for years, have been arrested by ICE agents in Amsterdam following a traffic stop.
The Times Union reports that an Amsterdam patrol officer pulled over a Chevy work van along route 5S a week ago.
The van was carrying men returning home from construction work, the officer reportedly saw the driver drinking a beer. Those arrested come from Mexico and Honduras, and range in age from 19 to 58.
They're currently being detained in the Albany County Jail awaiting deportation proceedings.
