A Code Blue Extreme has been put into effect in Albany for this weekend, as temperatures drop into the single digits and wind chills drop below zero.
A Code Blue engages to transport and shelter homeless people in the city who might otherwise remain unsheltered during periods of extreme weather.
It also relaxes requirements that might be perceived as barriers for homeless individuals to accept emergency shelter.
A standard Code Blue will remain in effect through Friday.
