An Albany man is facing a long list of charges after a traffic stop on the Taconic State Parkway. State troopers say 40 year old Jose Santiago Cruz provided a false identity to police throughout their investigation. When Cruz could not produce a valid drivers license and learned his vehicle would be impounded, he became irate. Cruz was also in possession of a stolen handgun. Cruz struggled with a Trooper while being taken into custody and was able to flee into a nearby wooded area. A K-9 unit was able to locate Cruz 45 minutes later. After arraignment, once Cruz's true identity was determined, his earlier bail was revoked.
