Fire spread to multiple houses Wednesday morning at Georgetta Dix Plaza and Westover Place in the Hamilton Hill area of Schenectady.
The fire started in a house on the corner and spread to the house next door. The first house has now been destroyed, but not before four adults and five kids ranging in age from 1 to 10 escaped safely.
The second house appeared to be abandoned. No word on a cause yet.
