This is an epidemic that is stealing our children, our friends, our neighbors, our co-workers, our brothers, sisters, our parents young and old. The heartbreak is incalculable and the financial costs are staggering. The opioid crisis is stealing people’s life savings, our taxes, our productivity. And it must stop.
In this podcast, presented by the New York Alliance Against Insurance Fraud and hosted by WGY's Diane Donato; our panel of experts talk about why this opioid crisis is different from others that have preceded it and about how we are combating it with national, statewide, and local efforts.
The panelists include:
- Congressman Paul Tonko, NYs 20th District. Congressman Tonko has been at the forefront of this issue and we’ll be talking about some of the solutions he has come up with.
- Robert Kent from OASAS. Robert is leading the OASAS efforts to implement Governor Cuomo’s Heroin and Opioid Task Force.
- Dr. Greg Dewey, President of Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.
- Jim Potts, member of the Executive Board of the New York Alliance Against Insurance Fraud.
- Debra Rhoades, Board Vice President, Friends of Recovery, New York.
