Mario Cuomo Bridge Will Cost Tax Payers Again and NY Won't Say How Much

The Former Tappan Zee Bridge is getting a name change, yet again. Sort of. Signs are being updated with include the middle initial of the late Governor in which the bridge is named for, Mario M. Cuomo.

According to the current Governor, Andrew Cuomo, he was unaware of the state's work to add his late father's middle initial.

It's not clear how many signs need to be fixed or how much it will cost. The DOT is patching over the their signs while the state Thruway Authority is patching some of their signs and replacing others.

Some signs still say the old Tappen Zee name.

The state says they are making the changes to ensure uniformity in its signage and to ensure it matches GPS and mapping software.
