A murder in Troy that has remained unsolved for 33 years is garnering renewed attention.
Earlier this week, Troy Police sent out a press release detailing the murder of 25-year-old Deborah Koenig, who was last seen near Jackson and First Streets in South Troy on June 14, 1987. She was found beaten and stabbed to death the next day along the railroad tracks between Jackson and Monroe Streets.
Two suspects were initially arrested in the case, one was acquitted at a trial in 1990 and the charges against the second suspect were dismissed.
Koenig's daughter Tara Mabee, who was two at the time of her mother's murder, tells WGY News she hopes the recent spotlight on her mother's case will result in giving her family some answers.
"I'm not expecting justice, I'm just expecting to know the truth. I just want to know what happened to her. She fought really hard that night and she suffered. She deserves her story to be told."
