Remote Learning Causing Desk Shortage

The new school year has started in several parts of the country, and with some cities still relying on remote learning and some parents locally opting to keep their kids home, there seems to be a run on at least one important school supply – desks. 

According to a new report, select office furniture, like desks and chairs, are limited or on back order depending on where you live. In fact, searches for “desk” on Amazon rose 600% from July 11th to August 15th, coming in just behind facemask. What's more, searches for “kids desk” were up 3783%, while there was a 257% increase in searches for “computer desk.”

But that’s not all. IKEA tells “USA Today” that the pandemic has caused supply delays. Plus recent searches on IKEA, as well as Amazon, Target, Walmart, Wayfair, Staples, and Office Depot show many desks either out of stock, or not shipping for weeks or months. And the few desks that are available are too big or too expensive for kids’ use.
