New York is among a group of states being investigated by the U.S. Justice Department for COVID-19 related deaths in nursing homes.
A letter was sent to Governor Cuomo in addition to the governors of New Jersey, Michigan, and Pennsylvania requesting COVID-19 data.
In the New York case, the issues stem from a controversial March 25th directive issued by the state health department, which prohibited a nursing home from denying re-admission or admission to a nursing home based on a confirmed or suspected diagnosis of the coronavirus.
That directive was later reversed on April 29th.
