Bethlehem Police are confirming that the deaths of a husband and wife found at a home in Selkirk have been determined to be a murder-suicide.
Officers discovered the bodies of 58-year-old Sarbjit Saran and 58-year-old Bhupinder Saran while performing a welfare check at their home at 56 Chesterwood Drive. Police determined that Bhupinder killed Sarbjit before killing himself.
Bethlehem Police Commander Adam Hornick held a press conference Wednesday afternoon and confirmed that the department had previously made calls to the home for domestic incidents with the most recent occurring in September of 2019.
Hornick also confirmed that there was an active no illegal contact order of protection against Bhupinder protecting Sarbjit.
The exact manner of death has not been divulged, but Hornick confirmed a firearm was not used.
Additionally, Hornick said this tragedy serves as a reminder of the services the community offers to help domestic abuse victims and survivors.
