The “Baby Shark” song is officially breaking records on YouTube. “Baby Shark Dance,” the children’s video for the earworm, has just become the most-viewed YouTube video of all time.
It was first uploaded by South Korean children’s entertainment brand Pinkfong back in June 2016 and since then, it’s racked up over 7.04-billion views. That puts it in first place, beating out the former record-holder “Despacito” and it’s 7.03-billion public views. So even though this kids’ song can be annoying - especially to parents - it seems people can’t stop watching the video.
Pinkfong’s version of the tune, which features those repetitive “doo doo doo doo doo doo” lyrics as it goes through “baby shark,” “mommy shark,” “daddy shark” and more, was actually a huge hit as well. It hit number 32 on Billboard’s Hot 100 Singles Chart in 2019 and helped secure the song in pop culture history. And as much as moms and dads of young kids wish it would just go away already, the video “Baby Shark Dance” is still going strong in 2020.
