Hands-on learning has been a hallmark for Capital Region BOCES Career and Technical School. For years local students have had their classroom learning supplemented with real experience as they pursue careers in a variety of professions including construction, medical assisting, culinary arts and cosmetology.
Then came a pandemic that made social distancing and on-line learning the norm.
But students are still receiving hands-on instruction at locations served by BOCES CTE and say they really love the opportunity to still get their hands dirty.
For administrators and instructors it has been a careful balance.
In this podcast with Diane Donato, CTE director Jeff Palmer talk about the challenges they encountered and how they adapted to ensure students would continue to have the hands-on learning that they have counted on.
