Some settlement funds are being invested in more charging stations in New York.
$11 million worth of Volkswagen settlement funds will be used to build out the state's network of fast charging stations according to the governor's office. The hope is to continue making electric vehicles a more accessible option for New Yorkers. Developers can apply for the funds but they must also commit to placing some of the stations within half a mile of a disadvantaged community. New York was allocated almost $130 million out of the federal Volkswagen Settlement fund.
