Senator Chuck Schumer is going to bat for the future of Minor League Baseball in the Collar City.
Schumer says he has spoken with Major League Baseball commissioner Rob Manfred about the Tri-City ValleyCats remaining affiliated with a major league club. The ValleyCats, located in Troy, have been part of the Houston Astros organization since 2003. Should Tri-City lose its affiliation, the team could join an independent minor league or become a summer college team.
