The future of the Tri-City ValleyCats is expected to become clearer in the next few days.
Team president Rick Murphy says an announcement whether the franchise will remain connected with a Major League Baseball team is expected this week. The ValleyCats have been a minor league affiliate of the Houston Astros since debuting in Troy back in 2002. Should they lose their affiliation, the ValleyCats could join an independent league.
