The next time the Tri-City ValleyCats take the field, they won't be affiliated with a Major League Baseball franchise.
It was announced Wednesday the ValleyCats will no longer serve as a minor league team for the Houston Astros. The partnership between Houston and Tri-City goes back to 2002 when the ValleyCats started playing in Troy. ValleyCats officials say they're evaluating options to keep pro baseball in the area.
