Albany County Has Deadliest Month of COVID-19 Pandemic

For the second month in a row, Albany County has seen a record number of deaths due to the coronavirus.

Officials said Sunday that 89 people passed away in January, breaking the previous mark of 63 set in December. Since the COVID-19 crisis started, a total of 315 residents have died after contracting the virus. One bit of good news is there were only 157 new cases reported, continuing a trend where the number of infections has been falling. There are currently 142 people hospitalized for treatment of the illness with 11 in intensive care.
