Albany County Executive Says High-Risk Sports Can Begin Scrimmages, Games

High school athletes who compete in sports like football, wrestling and volleyball have been given the green light to compete in Albany County.

They've been on the sidelines for months because those sports are considered to have a higher risk of COVID-19 transmission among players and coaches. But, County Executive Dan McCoy says the infection rate is below four-percent, meaning it's OK for scrimmages and games to begin. In order to resume playing, schools must have their health and safety guidelines approved by the county.
