Feds Deny State From Waiving Administration of Standardized Tests

New York State United Teachers union is not happy with a decision coming down from the federal government.

Earlier this year, New York State Ed had asked for a waiver from administering standardized tests for this school year, a request that the union supported. Tuesday the union says the federal government has denied that request. In a statement, union president Andy Pallotta said, “In a year that has been anything but standard, mandating that students take standardized tests just doesn’t make sense.” The union also says there are health concerns associated with bringing students in for in-person tests.
