Senator Gillibrand Wants More Money For Tick Research

New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand is asking the feds for $50-million to fund more research on tick-borne illnesses.

Lyme disease is the most common tick-borne illness across New York and around the country. Gillibrand says not enough is known about the long term impact for those who are bitten by ticks and come down with Lyme disease. She says New York has one of the highest case counts of the disease. Each year there are over 400,000 cases of Lyme disease across the nation, which is double what it was just 15 years ago.
