Malachi Jones, the 2018 AFL Rookie of the Year and 2019 Offensive Player of the Year will be returning to the Albany Empire this season. Jones had left the team to play for the CFL (Canadian Football League) in 2020, but Covid cancelled the season.
In addition to his football career, Jones is also a brand ambassador for an athletic clothing retailer based in Atlanta. His return to the Albany Empire will make his schedule more flexible to work with both the team and the clothing brand. His CFL schedule would not allow that.
Jones will be back on the field with the Empire on June 26 when they're on the road against the Jacksonville Sharks.
