Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan has declared victory in the city's Democratic mayoral primary.
With all precincts reporting, Sheehan has a nearly 1,600 vote lead over the Reverend Valerie Faust with some absentee ballots still needing to be counted. In a speech to supporters Tuesday night, Sheehan said she's currently focused on how the city will spend the 85 million dollars it received from the American Rescue Plan. In order to earn a third term, the mayor will have to defeat both Republican Alicia Purdy and independent candidate Greg Aidala on Election Day.
