Police across New York will be keeping an extra eye out for dangerous drivers this Fourth of July weekend.
Travelers can expect to see additional patrols as officers look to crack down on people who are driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol. A STOP-DWI enforcement period begins Friday and runs through July 5th. Last year, State Police issued over 9,200 traffic tickets during the July 4th weekend and arrested 180 people for DWI.
