Governor Cuomo has signed a new piece of legislation aimed at blocking those annoying robotexts from telemarketers.
While residents currently have protection against unwanted robocalls, the measure closes a loophole that previously didn't define text messages as telemarketing. While telemarketing isn't illegal, people can place their phone numbers on a company's Do Not Call list to avoid being contacted. The governor hasn't said how this new change involving text messages will be enforced.
