The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has extended travel restrictions involving the Canadian border that have been in place for more than a year.
Officials say they'll now remain in place through at least August 21st due to lingering concerns about the spread of COVID-19. Essential travel is still allowed between the two countries for things including medical treatment, working in essential industries and cross-border trade. Yesterday's announcement comes days after the Canadian government said fully vaccinated Americans could enter their country August 9th for nonessential purposes.
