Albany is receiving $ 81-million in federal funds thanks to the American Rescue Plan, and Mayor Kathy Sheehan says some of that money will go to city employees.
Sheehan says both unionized and non-unionized workers are set to get extra payments totaling $ 3.7 million. The mayor says the city fought hard to secure this funding and that it's going to end up rewarding front-line employees for their efforts during the COVID-19 crisis. Albany will get $ 40-million this year and the rest of the funds next year. The money must be awarded by December 31st, 2024 or it'll be returned.
