Over 70 years after giving his life defending our country, the remains of a Capital Region soldier will finally be buried Monday.

The military says Army Corporal Walter Smead of Hadley was killed in action during the Korean War but his remains weren't identified until earlier this year. Calling hours for Smead are today at Densmore Funeral Home on Sherman Avenue in Corinth from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm. Smead is then going to be laid to rest with full military honors during a ceremony at Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville Monday afternoon.
