State Attorney General Letitia James formally announces she is running for Governor.
In her campaign video, James highlighted the work she's done as Attorney General, including the call for better conditions and transparency at nursing homes.
Her office led the investigation into claims of sexual harassment by former Governor Andrew Cuomo.
Cuomo resigned after the report was released in early August.
Her announcement sets up a primary battle with current Governor Kathy Hochul. New York City Public Advocate Jumaane Williams is also running in the Democratic primary.
James would be the nation's first Black female governor if elected.
