Albany residents have re-elected Kathy Sheehan to continue serving as mayor of the Empire State's capital city.
Sheehan, a Democrat, declared victory Tuesday night over independent candidate Greg Aidala, Republican candidate Alicia Purdy and Valerie Faust who was a write-in candidate. In her speech to supporters, the mayor said she'll continue to focus on helping the city recover from the COVID-19 pandemic and work to improve public safety. Sheehan's third term will officially begin in January.
