Service in the New York Army Nation Guard is not always well understood. Case in point, Staff Sergeant Michael McLean who says he was working at a Pizza Hut and looking for ways to advance himself when a colleague talked to him about joining the Guard. He laughs now at his own misconceptions and talks about the opportunities he has discovered. In this episode of Upstate Issues, McLean talks about his years in the NYARNG, how he has used educational benefits, and the esprit de corps that has meant so much to him while he serves.
