Albany police have arrested a man after they say he wouldn't let a group of friends leave an apartment on Friday night. Thirty year old Nathaniel Picardi from Catskill allegedly held a group of people against their will at an apartment on Myrtle Avenue between Swan and Dove Streets. Police say Picardi was using drugs, became paranoid and stood in front of the door while pointing a loaded rifle at the group. Police were eventually able to get Picardi to come out of the apartment. Nobody was injured. Picardi is charged with kidnapping, menacing and criminal possession of a weapon.

An AR-15 was recovered by police after the incident.
