An officer involved shooting is under investigation in Albany.
Police say they were responding to a break in at a home on Morris Street just before 1 o'clock Monday morning when officers noticed a man in a parking lot on New Scotland Ave with a knife and a dog.
Police stopped to question the man about his whereabouts. The man reportedly sprinted at officers with the knife in his hand despite commands to drop it.
An officer opened fire and the man was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Three officers also went to the hospital per department protocol.
Police also say the dog bit one of the officers at the scene.
Albany Police have been in contact with the Albany County District Attorney's Office and the State Attorney General's Office.
The incident remains under investigation.
